Hi! I am Sanjana Kumar, founder and baker extraordinaire behind SweetsbySanjana. I started baking over 7 years ago, and began selling my baked goods during quarantine in 2020 to share my treats for all to enjoy. What was a small side hobby blossomed into this business! 

 

I have worked as a baker and cake decorator at Coco and Eve Custom Cakes, and am also ServSafe certified. I’m completely self taught in my craft, and love trying out new techniques and experimenting with flavors. My latest venture into Indian inspired cakes takes inspiration from the sweets I grew up making with my grandmother, and has been a huge success  at this year’s farmer’s markets.!

 

Outside of baking, I am a professionally trained Bharatanatyam dancer (Indian classical dance), was formerly a Level 9 competitive gymnast, and am also a high school student at Walter Payton College Prep in Chicago, IL. When I’m not whipping up a cake, you can find me dancing to a good beat, exploring Chicago’s food scene, or cramming for a test :)
